The next Heart of the Continent meeting will be held in Minneapolis on Thursday, April 22nd and Friday, April 23rd.
The format will follow that of the past several meetings: a lecture/discussion Thursday night and a general meeting Friday morning through about 2:00 pm. We have put this schedule together knowing that several people are involved with the Midwest Mountaineering Expo that starts Friday evening. Those that need to will be able to do both.
Lee Frelich will present to the group Thursday evening. For those who don’t know Lee, he is a pre-eminent researcher at the University of Minnesota and has a particular expertise and interest in the potential effects of climate change in boreal forests. He will be giving us the best current thinking on how global climate change will change the forests in the border lakes region. Lee is a very engaging speaker and it will be both fun and informative to hear him.
We will then meet for our quarterly general meeting on Friday at the offices of Wilderness Inquiry, near the Dinkytown area of the University. We have put together an interesting set of reports and topics and I encourage as many as possible to attend.
